At present Beauty culture field has been faced for various crisis, such as they cannot give best quality services to customer, lack of recognition to beauticians, and they have not accepted code of ethics and rules to continue their business. But Sri Lankan beauty culture field gives great contribution to uplift the Sri Lankan economy by generating job among young generation in Sri Lanka

Therefore to raise that beauty culture field as an industry Small Business Development Division has been implementing the national program of ‘SED SALON’ under the following purposes.

• Develop Entrepreneurs by improving the knowledge, skills and attitudes of professionals in the field of beauty culture and hairdressing.
• Introducing code of ethics to give high recognitions to beauticians
• Giving best quality service through SED salon and process background to operate relevant standards
• Giving National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) for create professional recognition

SED salon program is focused on three following main aspects, based on the beauty and hairdressing profession:

1. High standards
2. Service according to quality and ethics
3. Beauticians with knowledge and skills
